We believe the Holy Scriptures are the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God, preserved by His providence and power. The Bible is truth without error and is the final authority in all matters of faith, doctrine, and life. It is sufficient for salvation, instruction, correction, and reproof, and it testifies from the beginning to the end of the Lord Jesus Christ. While many translations exist, we affirm the unique characteristics of the King James Bible in faithfully preserving God’s Word and remain open to the truth that God can use even imperfect versions to lead souls to Himself.
See Psalms 12:6-7, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Proverbs 30:5, Isaiah 55:11, Hebrews 4:12, John 17:17; and Romans 10:17:
- Psalms 12:6-7: “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”
- 2 Timothy 3:16-17: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
- Proverbs 30:5: “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.”
- Isaiah 55:11: “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
- Hebrews 4:12: “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
- John 17:17: “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
- Romans 10:17: “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
We believe in one God, eternal and unchanging, the Creator of all things, who is all-powerful, all-knowing, perfectly holy, and cannot lie. He desires that all would come to repentance and to the knowledge of the truth through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ.
See Genesis 1:1, Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 46:9-10, Titus 1:2, 1 Timothy 2:3-4, 2 Peter 3:9, and Malachi 3:6:
- Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
- Deuteronomy 6:4: “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:”
- Isaiah 46:9-10: “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:”
- Titus 1:2: “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;”
- 1 Timothy 2:3-4: “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”
- 2 Peter 3:9: “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
- Malachi 3:6: “For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”
This one true God eternally exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit—co-equal, co-eternal, and one in essence, known as the Holy Trinity.
See 1 John 5:7, 2 Corinthians 13:14, and John 14:16-17:
- 1 John 5:7: “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”
- 2 Corinthians 13:14: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
- John 14:16-17: “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”
We believe that Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh, fully God and fully man, born of a virgin, and lived a sinless life. He is the Son of God, the promised Messiah, sent to be the propitiation for the sins of the world through His death on the Cross.
See John 1:1, 14; Matthew 1:23, 1 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 4:15, 1 John 4:10, Romans 3:25, and Isaiah 53:5-6:
- John 1:1: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
- Matthew 1:23: “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
- 1 Timothy 3:16: “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
- Hebrews 4:15: “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”
- 1 John 4:10: “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
- Romans 3:25: “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;”
- Isaiah 53:5-6: “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried, and rose again the third day, proving that the full payment for sin was accepted by the Father. He ascended to Heaven and now sits at the right hand of God as our High Priest and Advocate. When He said, “It is finished,” He declared the eternal sufficiency of His once-for-all sacrifice.
See 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Romans 4:25, John 19:30, Hebrews 10:10-14, Acts 1:9-11, and Romans 8:34:
- 1 Corinthians 15:1-4: “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
- Romans 4:25: “Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.”
- John 19:30: “When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”
- Hebrews 10:10-14: “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”
- Acts 1:9-11: “And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”
- Romans 8:34: “Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.”
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Comforter sent by the Father, who indwells all believers, sealing them unto the day of redemption, leading them into all truth, convicting the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.
See John 14:26, John 16:8-13, Ephesians 1:13-14, Romans 8:9, and 2 Corinthians 1:22:
- John 14:26: “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
- John 16:8-13: “And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”
- Ephesians 1:13-14: “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.”
- Romans 8:9: “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.”
- 2 Corinthians 1:22: “Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.”
We believe that God created all things in the beginning, including Adam and Eve, the first humans. They transgressed God’s commandment, and by that sin brought death and corruption into the world. Because of Adam’s sin, all mankind is born with a fallen nature, inclined to evil, and in need of a savior.
See Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 2:17, Genesis 3:6-24, Romans 5:12, Romans 3:10-12, 23, and Jeremiah 17:9:
- Genesis 1:26-27: “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
- Genesis 2:17: “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
- Romans 5:12: “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
- Romans 3:10-12: “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
- Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
- Jeremiah 17:9: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
We believe that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. All stand guilty before a holy God and are under the curse of death, but God, in His mercy, has provided salvation through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
See Romans 6:23, Galatians 3:22, John 3:18-19, and Ephesians 2:1-3:
- Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
- John 3:18-19: “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”
- Ephesians 2:1-3: “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins: Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.”
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith alone, not of works. Those who believe the Gospel—that Christ died for their sins, was buried, and rose again the third day—are saved, sealed, and justified before God. This salvation is a free gift and cannot be earned by one’s own effort.
See Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 5:1, Titus 3:5-7, John 5:24, Acts 16:30-31, and Galatians 2:16:
- Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
- Romans 5:1: “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:”
- Titus 3:5-7: “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”
- John 5:24: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
- Acts 16:30-31: “And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”
- Galatians 2:16: “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”
We believe that good works do not save, but should follow salvation as evidence of the new birth. These works are not the root of salvation, but the fruit of a regenerated life in Christ, and should be done out of love and obedience to God.
See James 2:17-18, Titus 2:14, Matthew 5:16, Ephesians 2:10, and Galatians 5:22-23:
- James 2:17-18: “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.”
- Titus 2:14: “Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”
- Matthew 5:16: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
- Ephesians 2:10: “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
- Galatians 5:22-23: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
We believe that the universal Church is made up of all who have been saved by grace through faith in Jesus. The mission of the Church is to preach the Gospel to every creature, make disciples, baptize believers, and equip the saints to be fishers of men, edifying one another in love and truth.
See Ephesians 1:22-23, Colossians 1:18, Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 10:14-15, and 2 Timothy 2:2:
- Ephesians 1:22-23: “And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.”
- Colossians 1:18: “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”
- Matthew 28:18-20: “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
- Romans 10:14-15: “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”
- 2 Timothy 2:2: “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”
We believe in the bodily return of Jesus Christ to judge the living and the dead. The saved will be resurrected unto everlasting life, and those who have rejected the Gospel will face eternal separation from the Lord.
See Acts 1:11, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Revelation 20:11-15, John 5:28-29, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9, and Daniel 12:2:
- Acts 1:11: “Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”
- 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17: “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
- Revelation 20:11-15: “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
- John 5:28-29: “Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.”
- 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9: “And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;”
- Daniel 12:2: “And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.”
