Of the many things that can stand in the way of the unbeliever from becoming born again, it is not logic. No matter how we fuss or fight, there is truth in this world. The sun rises the same each morning. It rains just where it needs to. Birds don’t forget how to fly south in the winter. Creation itself bears witness that there is a God. The order and structure of animals, nature, and reality itself show order and logic. The definition of logic is: the art of thinking and reasoning justly. It includes the use of reason in the investigation of truth and the application of reason to science and philosophy. Logic is the science or art of using reason well in inquiries after truth and in the communication of it to others. See Isaiah 1:18: “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” Most people understand or even enjoy science, which is simply the study of creation using logic and reason. Observe that God gives these gifts to us to reason out who He is and what He wants. See 2 Peter 3:9: “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
The Urgency of the Gospel
The evangelist who led me to God once said, “Once you figure out there’s a God, you’d better figure out who He is and what he wants.” That stuck with me over the years, and these thoughts provide a simple (but beautiful) path from start to finish. The path can be used to lead a friend to the Gospel and increase our (believers’) understanding of the character of God himself.
Who God Is
See Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
God is the eternal Creator of all things. He existed before time and made everything with purpose. You are not random—you were created by Him and for Him.
Where Sin Comes From
See Romans 5:12: “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
Sin began with Adam’s disobedience. It infected all humanity—no one is born clean. You inherited a fallen nature, not a neutral one.
What Sin Is
See 1 John 3:4: “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.”
Sin is breaking God’s commands, not just making mistakes. It’s rebellion, not weakness. Every lie, lust, pride, or selfish act is sin.
Why We Need to Be Saved
See Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Sin earns death—spiritual separation from God. You don’t pay with good deeds; you pay with your soul. Hell is not a threat—it’s the default without salvation.
Who Jesus Is
See John 14:6: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Jesus is not one of many paths—He is the only way. He is truth incarnate, not just a prophet. He is life itself—without Him, you remain dead in sin.
Why He Died
See 1 Peter 3:18: “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:”
Jesus took your place—He was sinless, you are not. His death was a substitution, not a tragedy. He died once to bring you to God—no repeat needed.
What the Gospel Is
See 1 Corinthians 15:3–4: “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
The Gospel is not religion—it’s a rescue. Jesus died, was buried, and rose again to defeat death. This is the only message that saves.
Why Today Is the Day
See 2 Corinthians 6:2: “(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)”
You don’t schedule salvation—God does. Delay is disobedience. Tomorrow is not promised, and conviction fades.
Agrippa’s Mistake
See Acts 26:28: “Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.”
“Almost” is not enough. Agrippa understood—but didn’t surrender. Don’t be almost saved. Be born again.
The urgency and logic of the Gospel are powerful. For the believer, it’s a reminder to count the cost of not being a witness to the Gospel. For the unbeliever, it’s a light shining in darkness greater than philosophy, “science” (the falsely so-called kind), religion, or anything in the human realm.
Man is a spiritual being, made in the image of God himself. 2 Peter 3:9 is a reminder God has given all He can give regarding our reconciliation with Himself. What else could he possibly give more precious than his own Son? Every sinner needs to be saved, and the imprint of logic upon the human mind to reason out the world is another proof that God’s fingerprints are in the firmware.
He calls all to salvation, and he calls His children to be witnesses.
